Visiting the past

The day started with a delicious breakfast. We visited the summer place which really a beautiful places with artistically laid out fountains which were made with very advanced technology. The intriguing fact is that it was made in 1800s to 1900s .

Walking away...

My day 5 experience was extremely pleasant. I woke up at 9.45. After a sumptuous breakfast, I  went on an excursion, walking, along with the others at around 10.30. By the time we reached the Summer palace, were pretty exhausted. We then embarked on a cruise. I stopped at a chocolate shop and bought so much chocolate that my luggage was almost full. My next stop was the  museum of the saviour where we spent a long time waking around.

A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE

We started our journey at 3.30a.m. to St. Petersburg railway station. We all enjoyed the tasty onion pizzas and the mouth-watering potato wedges. We also had a great experience of travelling the second fastest bullet train of the world. After resting at the hotel for some time we proceeded for a delicious lunch.
We also visited the grand museums and the magnificent bronze statues. We were really thrilled to climb more than 291 steps to reach the top of St. Petersburg. We moved forward to have an appetizing Indian Cuisine at Tandoor Restaurant. We also enjoyed playing , chatting, laughing  which makes this trip a memorable one.

A MEMORABLE JOURNEY

We woke up early at 3a.m. and were very excited to visit the Moscow Railway Station. We had spent quality time there and I was lucky enough to win a Bluetooth Headset. After that we had an exciting trip in the bullet train which helped us to reach our destination that was St. Peters Burg in just 3 hours. After resting in the hotel for some time we proceeded with our journey and visited  Hermitage and  Cathedral. We climbed more than 271 stairs which was an awesome experience.

THE RUSSIAN HERITAGE

Today I got a golden opportunity to learn about the history of  Russia. We visited the Winter Palace which was the official residence of the great Russian Emperors. I was lucky enough to  know  Russia’s role  during World War 2. I was mesmerized to see the vast  collections of paintings and the history hidden behind those paintings. It was indeed a wonderful experience. Then, we also visited a beautiful church in the palace. I have seen women covering their head with any cloth as a mark of respect to their  religion.

My first day in Russia

In a peaceful night, alarm snoozed in my ear, Triiinngg….
That high pitched sound burst in my ears and woke me up. I just looked at the time it was 12am. Oops! late again man! Then luckily I reached on time.  We started to get our heavy suitcases to check and the hand bag check in. Then we had to do  Immigration formalities. After the Immigration we went straight to electronics checking. After some time we boarded the plane. The journey was around 4 hours.I spent my journey enjoying  with my friends. We reached Russia airport and it was very huge airport. I was very enthusiastic when I reached there because I wanted to know about Russian culture. We reached our hotel after an hour. After we reached our teacher told us that we had 45 minutes to get ready for an excursion. Our guide came and took us to the most beautiful metro station .There were many statues of World War II  soldiers who had sacrificed their lives for their country. We went to 5 stations while coming and 3 stations while  leaving. After the metro ride we went to Kremilin walls and then St Baisils Cathedral and more beautiful historical places. The day ended the day with a wonderful dinner  at an Indian restaurant.

Beyond academics

Our morning started with the sports session with Mr. Brown. We did some warm up exercises and then played a variety of  games with the students of grade 8. We had a lot of fun while playing team games like passing the ball, dodge, basket ball as well as tricky mind games. The second was a games' session where we played formal   school games like cricket and badminton with the 10th graders. The  mixed doubles  matches  which we played with our local buddies were invigorating.  It was really interesting to get acquainted with students of the same age. We had an Art class with Ms. Giblin in sessions 3 and 4. We began with  some wood art for which we took inspiration from parts of trees like branches, leaves, flowers and the bark, to create paintings using different coloured inks with thin wooden sticks and unique pointed wooden brushes. This was followed by 2 different art activities. In the  first one,  we were required to use our imagination and create a creature in 3 different parts. We had to start by diving the paper into 3 different parts and drawing a face on the topmost division. We passed this on  randomly and the next person would draw the body to the face and so on.  The influence anime characters, emojis, robots, aliens and even some cartoon characters  was obvious in the faces. They also drew various types of bodies and legs like - mermaid, fish, crane, cow, tiger, alien, robot, human and even the eight legged octopus. The drawings at the end turned out to be really unique and funny. The last art activity we did aimed at recreating our first painting where we had used wood. We were provided with all sorts of art materials and we were asked to be creative and do whatever we wanted to to make our painting more beguiling. After a very colourful and sporty day, we headed towards our final university visit of the day, to the  'University of Queensland'. We were warmly welcomed by their faculty and one of the indian students who was called to make the visit more comfortable. First we attended a presentation based on the university, it's history and the courses available there, creditably presented by 2of their faculty members belonging to Science and Business departments. This presentation helped the students to get a clear idea of the choices available in the field they are interested in and how they can further pursue them to make a  successful career. The campus tour revealed astoundingly beautiful sandstones which were used to construct the buildings of the university. I  returned to the hotel with a feeling of   satisfaction at a day well spent.

Art and sports in Australia

Today, we reached the college and  played cricket along with some traditional Australian games like Rats & Rabbits and Touch & Kickball. Following this exhilarating experience, we had our drawing classes where we drew with a bamboo stick. Then  in the break, we were with our friends and I shared  samosas with my new found friends. Our art class also began with a kind of game. We made three parts of an A3 sized paper.  A student will draw a creatures in each of these parts as a group activity. Then we went to Queensland university and learnt of the lifestyle of the people in the QU. Familiar woes consumed some of our time  as we were stuck in the traffic for a while.

My Australian diary

7th August, 2019
Today, was our third day at Calamvale Community College. Our schedule today included a Sports lesson with Mr. Brown and an Art Lesson with Ms. Giblin. Playing simple games with year 10 International Baccalaureate students, kindled a sense of team spirit. We had a great time with Ms. Giblin who encouraged us to get our creative juices flowing with incredibly interesting art exercises. These exercises were in fact, really therapeutic. All in all, it was a highly enriching session.

One Fruitful Day...

DAY 3 at CCC

After having a luscious breakfast at Robertson, we left for CCC to spend another delightful day with our buddies and to accompany them to spend their lectures according to their schedule.
Firstly, I attended a seminar for career counselling by the expert teachers of the school. The experts discussed about the wide range of industries for the students to choose their course wisely. Furthermore, I had a connect session which mainly links the common student-teacher updates for the upcoming events.

After having a long connect session, I had my first break with my fellow mates. And bought my lunch from the school canteen. With the end of our first break, I went to my second session i.e. sports. I enjoyed playing Rugby in the session with soothing weather around.

And the last session I attended was science, with the interesting chapters of chemistry. The teacher described the common base for the new chapter that was going to be taught in the next term.

With this informative lecture of science we ended up our today's day of CCC.

ISA activity, Science exhibition

SCIENCE EXHIBITION
DPS conducted a Science Exhibition as a part of ISA activity on July 21, 2018. The students of our class (VIII H) were given 4 topics for this Science Exhibition. The topics were – Sprinkler Irrigation, Mixed farming, Drip Irrigation and Greenhouse Effect. My group made the model on sprinkler irrigation. For that, we assembled at my place. Everyone brought some material for the model. It took 2 to 3 hours to complete our project on Sprinkler Irrigation. We made a working model of the same. After 2 to 3 days our class teacher asked us to bring the model and explain it in the class. So the next day we brought it and explained it. Ma’am liked our model and this is how our model got selected for the exhibition. Ma’am selected two students from my group. My friend and I were the ones selected for the big day. We were told that we needed to explain the models to the parents in the science exhibition on the day of the PTM. We prepared accordingly and explained our model to the parents. They liked our model very much and gave us an excellent feedback. Our Science Exhibition was a success. We are looking forward for our participation next year too.

Science ISA Experience

ISA Activity (Science) !!

I am going share my experience on ISA Activity (Science) which was the project given during summer vacation. For this project, we have to make working/non-working models of several agricultural practices like Drip Irrigation, Inter-cropping, Vertical Farming, etc. This project was to be done in group of 4-5 students. For this project, I have made a group with Rachit Upadhyay and we both have decided to do the project on Inter-cropping. While making project, I have been very curious, finding information on Inter-cropping. Inter-cropping means, ’Growing of two or more crops simultaneously on the same piece of land.’ Our project was selected for science exhibition in our school on the day of PTM for class 8. During this project, I have enjoyed finding many other information on agriculture related practices. I really enjoyed doing this ISA Activity…..!!

During the next session which was the Fitness Session, they completed their Fitness records. This was followed by English. They discussed Question - Answers of a play, I am not familiar with. They discussed certain elements like Poetic Devices, importance of them, how to build up answers and character sketches. The next session was on Drama. We all watched a play called 'Billy The Kid' to learn about Magical realism, which included swapping of characters by an actor, going to the flashback and other techniques.

Captivating Brisbane

The first weekend at Brisbane, Queensland was full of exciting and adventurous events and experiences. We started our day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel followed by an interesting local bus journey through the city to our destination, that was the South Bank. On reaching there  we were cordially  greeted by the Principal of the Calamvale Community College , Ms. Lisa Starmer. She was kind enough to show us  the place and make it a fun filled moment for us.
We started our excursion with a fascinating ferry ride  which sailed us  into the beautiful Brisbane River. The weather and the beguiling sight of the sky scrapers captivated us all the way throughout the ride. On the  way we got down at a river bank garden for a small walk where Ms. Lisa generously showed and explained us about the diversity of the  flora and fauna found in  Australia.
We also took a ride  on the gigantic Ferris wheel situated on the river bank showcasing the mesmerizing view of the whole area. After an enjoyable ride we visited one of the most ancient Buddhist Nepalese temple besides the Ferris wheel .The holy place was peaceful and it reflected the traditional origin of Nepal with its intricate designs.
It was followed by a stroll along the banks of the river and an artificial beach .We  proceeded for a tasty lunch after that. We also enjoyed shopping at the city shore market which helped us to buy some authentic showpieces of the native place , along with few  souvenirs  as a memory of our visit to this delightful place.

Quest for learning

Good Morning! I am Akshat Desai. Today, I was curious to know about the whole program, it's organisation and which subjects are included in it. My queries were all answered. I am really excited about the Program. I also enjoyed the time when we were at the botanical gardens. I liked the QUT art museum too. I asked some questions regarding the Graphic Designing courses and I received some information about them. In the following days, I will find out about the people whom I should contact. I also liked the Cube. It was impressive.

Exploring Horizons

I, Dev Chandra of Delhi Public School- Bopal had one of the best experiences of my life visiting Brisbane in Australia.  The day had begun with an appetizing breakfast at 'The Croft House' which gave the perfect impression of being abroad. I was so amazed to visit the government building, which was considered as the education house, where all the students and school leaders had an interaction with the Australian educational leaders.
After a fruitful interaction, we all had a lunch at the Botanical gardens. We moved around the garden and met some children from local Australian schools.  I strongly believe that everyone had a wonderful time there. We also visited the Queensland University of technology and had an awesome experience of 'The Cube’ and its magnificent art gallery. I indeed had a great time today and am looking forward for more wonderful and memorable experiences in the days to come.
